About

Born in Springfield, Illinois, Kyle Linnik had the opportunity to move around quite a bit in his younger years. Shortly after he was born he moved to Boston, Massachusetts, then on to Kansas City, Kansas, St. Louis, Missouri, Cincinnati Ohio, and finally arriving in San Diego part way through his 6th grade year. He instantly fell in love with the best city on earth and was accepted to San Diego State University where he majored in Biology with a focus in Neurophysiology and Entomology. Mr. Linnik would then go on to receive his teaching credentials and earn a Masters in Teacher Leadership.

Mr. Linnik began teaching in 2009 and helped open his first school in 2010 where he would go on to develop his first MakerSpace. Since a young age, Mr. Linnik has been fascinated with building and creating things. He fell in love with woodworking when he took his first woodshop class in 7th grade and has since made it his mission as an educator to bring these experiences with career and technical education back to the classroom. Since, he has helped to create over a dozen makerspaces in schools around the country bringing these experiences to thousands of new students.

Mr. Linnik and his wife are both teachers and have been happily married since 2010. While he and his wife do not have any kids of their own, they would say their students are their kids. Mr. Linnik is an avid waterman, who loves anything to do with the ocean. He starts each day on his kayak out on the water, but couldn't be happier paddling in and coming to work to help serve the Elevate community.
