School Counseling Mission Statement

The Elevate School Counseling program’s mission is to equip students with the foundational skills needed to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Through a data driven, comprehensive program aligned with state and national standards, Elevate Counselors empower students to recognize and build on their strengths, achieve college and career readiness, and develop the life skills to persevere through all life’s challenges. In partnership with families, community organizations, and school staff, the school counselors foster an inclusive environment that meets the needs of all students.

Please explore the pages below and check the weekly Elevate Newsletter for updates from the counseling program throughout the school year.

  • After participating in our school counseling program, all students at Elevate will develop the skills to think creatively, stand up for justice, and be prepared to make a positive impact in their communities and on a global scale.

  • Elevate works to provide a variety of services to meet the mental health needs of all of our students. Promoting the social emotional needs of our students is a high priority for our school. We offer 3 tiers of services:

    • Tier 1 provides school-based prevention and interventions for all students
    • Tier 2 services are focused on students who are in need of additional support due to a variety of factors
    • Tier 3 services are tailored to high-risk students

Elevate also offers community resources to families when needed and can provide a list of mental health providers and community programs in the San Diego areas.

  • Confidentiality is an important component of the counseling relationship; however, students are informed at the beginning of the counseling relationship that if they reveal they wish to do harm to themselves, someone is harming them, or someone else's safety is threatened, confidentiality will be broken. In addition, students are encouraged to share with their parent and/or teachers, or the counselor will ask for permission to share if it is relevant to a third party.
