TK at Elevate 2026-2027

Elevate is excited to announce the launch of our TK program for the 2026-2027 school year! At Elevate, we believe that every child is a leader, and this extends to our youngest students. Our TK program is designed to set students up for success as they launch their Elevate experience, with a curriculum tailored to meet the developmental needs of our 4- and 5-year-olds and aligned with our Leader and Me program.
Our TK program will blend play-based and problem-based learning based on California Preschool Learning Foundations. Our TK students will develop a strong foundation in early literacy, math, and social-emotional skills, and small group lessons and center time will be regular parts of each school day. We are excited to partner with our families to help our youngest eaglets soar!
FAMILY FAQs
What is Transitional Kindergarten (TK)?
TK is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten, designed for children who will have their fourth birthday by September 1, 2026. It provides a developmentally appropriate start to elementary learning through play, discovery, and leadership.
Where will TK be located?
Our TK classroom will be at our Serra Mesa campus. Our TK students will have a separate eating and play area to allow for us to tailor those spaces to their developmental needs.
What is the school day like?
We are proud to offer a full-day program that will run from 8:20 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. at our Serra Mesa campus. Our TK students will have a balance of structured learning time, small groups, play-based exploration, outdoor movement, and quiet rest time. Families will have the option to choose an early pick-up at 12:55 p.m.
What makes Elevate’s TK program unique?
As a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, we integrate the 7 Habits even with our youngest students. Our TK students will be empowered to see themselves as leaders, and given authentic opportunities to develop their leadership skills through problem-based learning. Each unit, our TK students will take on a new problem-based learning project with their class. The units are play-based and standards-aligned, while encouraging students to show their creativity and practice skills that will prepare them for our Kindergarten program.
Does my child need to be fully potty-trained?
We encourage independence in self-care and toileting, but understand that accidents happen. While it is not required for students to be fully potty-trained to start TK, it is highly encouraged. Our staff handles these situations with sensitivity and care, and will work with you to develop a support plan for your child if needed.
How can I help my child prepare?
One of the best things you can do is practice independent self-care routines with your child like dressing, hand-washing, cleaning up items, opening and closing snack and lunch containers, and asking for help from adults. You can also support your child by reading together daily and talking about school in a positive, encouraging way. We will meet each child where they are developmentally, and your child’s teacher will communicate with you throughout the year about other ways you can support your child at home.
Open Enrollment for our 2026-2027 School Year is December 1, 2025 through March 1, 2026. Learn more from the Admissions section of our website!
