ELO-P Off to a Great Start! |
|
|
The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) at Elevate is off to a fantastic start this year! ELO-P is a funding source that allows us to expand the school day with the intent of providing academic, social, emotional, athletic, and other interests of students through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. This is provided before and after school as well as during some school breaks. Families that qualify for free/reduced lunches and have an official designation letter from the school will receive all ELO-P opportunities for free. Opportunities include Champions, after-school clubs, athletics, and our intersession programs.
For Session 1, we have 9 clubs and 128 students participating! This round of clubs is full of variety and excitement:
-
Basketball Club is already buzzing with energy as students practice teamwork and game skills.
-
The Gardening Club is getting their hands dirty—in the best way! TS students prepared their garden for new beginnings while SM students planted flower and lettuce seeds that we can’t wait to watch grow.
-
Chess Club has kids thinking three steps ahead as they plot strategies, shout “checkmate,” and celebrate victories.
-
Study Lounge is the perfect balance of focus and support, giving students a calm place to tackle homework and practice responsibility.
-
Drawing Club got creative right away by designing imaginative “shape creatures,” and there’s plenty more art to come.
-
Dance Club has the music turned up and feet moving as students learn new steps, build confidence, and most importantly—have fun!
-
Bring Change 2 Mind Club is sparking conversations around kindness, inclusion, and emotional wellness, reminding us that taking care of our hearts and minds matters, too.
-
American Sign Language Club is opening doors to new ways of communicating as students practice hand signs, learn the alphabet, and even try out simple conversations.
If your family would like to participate, start by making sure that the ELO-P Registration form is filled out. You can find this here. All sign-ups for after-school clubs and intersession programs will be posted on our website under the ELO-P tab. There you will also be able to find additional information on ELO-P.
It’s been such a joy to see our students exploring new interests and discovering their talents. Whether it’s hitting a perfect jump shot, planting a seed that will soon bloom, or finding rhythm on the dance floor, each club is filled with moments of growth, laughter, and pride. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings—who knows, you may have a future artist, athlete, or leader right at your kitchen table!

This week marks the anniversary of September 11, 2001—a day that changed our nation forever. While our students are too young to remember that day, it is important that we help them understand its significance in age-appropriate ways.
September 11 is a time to honor the lives lost, recognize the bravery of first responders, and reflect on the resilience and unity that followed. It reminds us of the importance of kindness, courage, and caring for one another in times of challenge.
At this morning's EMS Community Meeting, the significance of this day was acknowledged with a special Color Guard ceremony. This meaningful time helped our students pause, reflect, and show respect for the heroes and lives remembered on this day.
Together, we commemorate the heroes of 9/11 and continue to build a community grounded in compassion and hope.
For ways to talk about this day with your children, there are some lesson plans on the 9/11 Memorial and Museum website here or additional resources from the National Education Association here. |
