The STEAM Lab has been buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning this month!

First Grade scientists witnessed one of nature’s most magical transformations — the metamorphosis of caterpillars into butterflies. Students observed each stage up close, from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies ready for release.

Second Grade cartographers are exploring our world! Students are using Google Earth to investigate continents, countries, and landmarks. Soon, they will dive into a unit on Earth’s changes to understand how our planet’s surface evolves over time. Through experiments, models, and demonstrations, students will discover how wind, water, and natural forces shape mountains, valleys, and coastlines over time.

Third Grade entomologists are studying the life cycle and anatomy of ants. They’re using magnifiers to make detailed observations and learning how different body parts help ants survive, move, and work within their colonies.

Fourth Grade innovators are tapping into solar energy by designing and testing their own solar ovens. After collecting data on how sunlight generates heat, they got to test their engineering success with perfectly toasted s’mores — a sweet reward for scientific thinking!

Fifth Grade environmental scientists are getting their hands dirty exploring composting and the important role of worms in recycling nutrients. During their worm dissection, students examined real specimens to learn how decomposers keep our planet healthy and our soil rich.

From butterflies to solar power, each grade level is exploring how science connects to the world around us. Every day in the STEAM Lab brings new discoveries, questions, and excitement for learning!

Elevate Families: we recently learned that some families may be receiving duplicate or outdated calendar items. This is likely because some are still subscribed to a combined calendar that is no longer in use. To ensure you only receive the most relevant updates (like School-wide Events or ELOP), please follow these steps to unsubscribe from the old calendar and re-subscribe to the one you need: Calendar Subscription Tips for Families
