Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) at EMS

alt_text

Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) is a student led club at the EMS campus focused on raising awareness and reducing the stigma around mental health. Each month, students explore a new mental health topic by learning about it, engaging in thoughtful discussions, and then planning and hosting an event for the entire campus to participate in.

It has been incredible to hear students engage in such rich, meaningful conversations about mental health while sharing and listening in a safe and supportive space. So far this year, BC2M members have discussed topics such as bullying, coping with stressors and responsibilities, and acts of kindness and generosity. Students have brought these topics to life through campus events like Coping Skills Bingo and a Unity Day initiative, where they created posters and encouraged classmates to share ways we can prevent bullying on campus (pictured above).

We are currently in the midst of planning activities for Kindness Week, including an affirmation wall, positive message bracelets, and a Cocoa for Connection event designed to help students slow down, connect with one another, and spread kindness across campus. It has been amazing to see student leadership shine as they share thoughtful ideas and take ownership in creating positive experiences for our school community. I am incredibly lucky to work alongside students who are so passionate about changing the stigma around mental health and making EMS a more supportive, inclusive place for all.

Middle School Counselor
