INTRODUCING ELEVATE'S BOOK CLUB

Less Screen Time, More Story Time!

This school year, Elevate is focusing on a schoolwide Wildly Important Goal (WIG) to decrease technology usage by increasing meaningful offline learning experiences for our students, staff, and families.

One way we're bringing this goal to life is through our NEW Elevate Family Book Club!

From October through April, we invite families to connect through reading while exploring the 7 Habits together at home.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

1) Each month, we'll highlight one of the 7 Habits and share a simple family reading challenge. Families can choose ANY book or story that connects to that month's habit, there are no required books!
  • Read a picture book, chapter book, or favorite family story.
  • Listen to an audiobook or enjoy a sibling read-aloud.
  • Read in any language that works best for your family.
  • Talk about the story and complete a simple family challenge together.
2. Join Our Family Book Club Group!
We're also launching a special opt-in Family Book Club group in ParentSquare where families can stay connected, share ideas, and encourage one another throughout the year!

By joining the group, you'll receive:
  • Monthly reminders about our featured habit and reading challenge.
  • Book suggestions and fun ideas for connecting as a family.
  • Opportunities to share favorite books, experiences, and ideas with other Elevate families.

Joining the Book Club is Easy!

Simply click the Join button to our Family Book Club Group in ParentSquare to stay in the loop and participate as much or as little as works for your family. You can also leave the group anytime.

October's Book Choice

Let's get started with October's Habit: Be Proactive!

This month, choose a story where a character makes an important choice.

Talk with your child about what the character could control, the choices they made, and what your family might have done differently.

Remember, this isn't about reading a certain number of books or completing another assignment. It's about creating meaningful moments together, building leadership habits, and discovering the joy of reading!

Let's put down our screens, pick up a book, and grow together as an Elevate community!
